Hello!
My name is Andrea. I am a Thermomix addict, :)
I moved from Chile to the Sacramento area in 1997, when I married a California native. Since then I joined a choir, I had twin daughters, became a full-time college professor, and have made met many wonderful people whom I call friends.
When I first got married, I wasn't much of a cook, and making dinner was a chore. Through the years, however, I learned a few things and started trying new recipes, and I actually began enjoying cooking. The problem was that I am super busy with my full-time job teaching, the house, etc., so I was stuck always making the same recipes.
Ever since I purchased my first Thermomix TM6 - oh yes, I have two now - I can say that I absolutely love cooking, and I am trying new recipes all the time! What's not to love? Cooking now is easy, quick, my kitchen is never a mess, and everything my two "tech chefs" make always taste amazingly good. They make me look like a pro!
How did I get into Thermomix?
I first heard about Thermomix from another Andrea, a very good friend who bought her first Thermomix in Chile more than 18 years ago. She talked so much about this "kitchen robot" that my curiosity was piqued, but I couldn't find any information here in the U.S. at that time. Through the years, Andrea kept insisting that I should have one. When Thermomix® finally arrived in the U.S., I looked at it online and was a little shocked, to say the least, at the price. How could, what I thought was just another kitchen appliance, cost that much? I was not going to pay that amount of money for something that I didn't feel I needed, especially since I knew how to cook and actually liked doing it!
Fast forward a few years and everything changed. In June of 2022 we visited Andrea and her family in England, where they now live. The day we arrived Andrea said that she was making "pastel de choclo" (a Chilean dish,) fresh bread, and a dessert for dinner. I know how labor intensive it is to make pastel de choclo, and she was also going to make for us fresh bread and a dessert, all in under 2 hours? I had to see it to believe it! Well, it happened! And it was effortlessly, quick, and the Thermomix was amazingly simple to use. I was sold on the spot! In the next few days, Andrea prepared so many delicious meals and treats for us, and never spent too much time in the kitchen doing it. So the important question then came: "Did I really need one?" No, not really. But my birthday was right around the corner so ... should I ask for one as my birthday gift? Duh! Yes, of course!
As soon as we came back home I bought my Thermomix. I loved it so much that I decided to become a consultant only three months later. And here I am, still loving it, and wanting the world to know about it!
